Below is a poem that dad wrote on Sept. 9, 1968 as he was away from home for a week while managing railroad business up in Kelly Lake on the Iron Range and could not be home for his anniversary.

Also, because it is hard to read on the computer the words, below are copied the words to the Award of Love that dad had made and presented to mom for their 45th anniversary.
1940 AN AWARD OF LOVE 1985
To Pauline Mary Poppke, who on September 9, 1940,
in the Church of St. Leo, Minot, N. Dak. became my
wife. For this, I shall be eternally thankful O Lord.
Forty Five years of service and love.
